The retired-men’s breakfast will be this Friday in the church hall as normal (last one for the summer). The working-men’s breakfast is postponed until the following Thursday – please check the events calendar for times, even if the dates are not updated.
We continue our call for volunteers for our summer Sunday Club (to give our regulars a break) and for our Holiday Bible Club – there are lists in the church or you can email Dawn or Gary (garyanddawnmcd at aol dot com).
Jim will be leading the service next week when we will having our monthly informal communion at the end of the service.
Gary will be in Arklow next week to formally announce the vacancy where he will be acting as convenor.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the Storehouse food collection which was recently passed on to the folks in Crinken, Shankill. There is a list on the hall noticeboard of the kind of non-perishable goods they are looking for.
We had a visit from Janice Burns this morning who told us the service she has been attending since she relocated to Singapore (?) is at least 2.5 hours long. Gary got excited at the thought of an extra long sermon while the Sunday Club leaders took a deep breath! (Only kidding!)
As today was our Children’s Service, there is no recording of the sermon. The focus today was on “What is Church?”, which is the subject of this year’s Children’s Project. The collection at our after-church tea and coffee will go to this worthy cause.
’till next time!
